Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo: The $4 Trillion Tokenization Catalyst
NYSE named Securitize transfer agent for 24/7 on-chain stock trading. If 1% of NYSE volume moves on-chain, Domingo puts that at $4 trillion - triple today’s entire crypto market cap. The first name-brand equity tokenization triggers a cascade.
The DTCC’s July tokenization pilot excludes every native tokenization provider - Superstate, Centrifuge, and Securitize are all absent. It improves T+1 settlement with a token layer on top and cannot enable self-custody or DeFi composability. This is improving SMS while WhatsApp wins.
Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin ETF is priced 10bps below all competitors, with 16,000 financial advisors and a top-down mandate. Melker calls it the most underappreciated institutional signal in months. Domingo is a Morgan Stanley board investor - disclosed.
Domingo’s primary risk: one bad actor in the RWA space. FTX wiped out Securitize’s entire institutional pipeline overnight in 2021. The pipeline today is bigger and the institutions more risk-averse.
The DTCC announced a July tokenization pilot with 50 institutions. Securitize was not invited. Neither were Superstate or Centrifuge. Every participant is an existing DTCC counterparty.
That detail tells you almost everything about where institutional tokenization is headed - and who wins.
